Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Substation Erector to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining electrical substations and associated equipment. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, safety consciousness and the ability to work in various environments, including high-voltage systems.Key Responsibilities:

• Installation and Assembly:

• Assemble, erect, and install steel structures, switchgear, Current and Voltage Transformers, Isolators, transformers, and other substation components.
• Secure equipment on foundations and ensure proper alignment according to project specifications.
• Familiar with the correct rigging and lifting procedures to install the above-mentioned equipment
• Installation of cable racking systems
• Any other work typically required during the construction of a substation
• Brazing of Substation earth system

• Electrical Connections:

• Install and connect high-voltage and low-voltage cables, busbars, and wiring systems.
• Ensure electrical connections meet safety and regulatory standards.
• Install and connect Control system cables, and label accordingly.

• Testing and Commissioning:

• Collaborate with engineers and technicians during commissioning.
• Assist with testing of equipment and control cabling

• Safety and Compliance:

• Adhere to safety protocols and procedures when working with high-voltage equipment.
• Ensure installations comply with electrical codes and industry standards.

• Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of installation, testing, and maintenance activities.
• Report progress and issues to the site supervisor or construction manager.
• Maintain accurate quality control documentation

Minimum Requirements:

• Education:

• High school Certificate or equivalent (required), Grade 11 minimum.
• Experience:

• Proven experience as a Substation Erector or in a similar role in the power distribution sector, minimum of 10 years work experience.
• Familiarity with high-voltage electrical systems and substation equipment.
• Skills:

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
• Ability to read and interpret cable block diagrams and cable connection schedules
• Proficient in the use of tools and equipment for installation and maintenance.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Certifications:

• Relevant electrical or safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, Working on Heights, or high-voltage training).
• Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions.
• Capable of lifting heavy equipment and tools.
