Job Description

Performs tasks/ activities associated with general maintenance and repair work to roads, storm
water and drainage systems using handheld tools and equipment to excavate defined areas,
operating small machinery to break, crush and compact road surfaces, pressure cleaning devices
to clear blockages and remove debris from drainage systems, utilizing lettering and marking guides
to paint traffic flow signals and lines and provides guidance to the team through demonstration or
explanations of specific sequences associated with allocated tasks.
Key Responsibility AreasUndertakes general labouring tasks and operates small plant and equipment during
roadworks, stormwater drainage, road maintenance and road marking.
Connecting generators and compressors in accordance with standard operating condition of
small plant equipment.
Updates standard activity information on forms, checklist and work registers
Performs specific activities associated with the provision of support at work sites.
Cleans worksites, stores equipment and tools and loads materials prior to departure from
site.

Essential RequirementsAn appropriate level of secondary education.
Certification of competency in the operation of small plant and equipment.
1 Year relevant experience.
Preferred RequirementsGrade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent.
2 Years relevant experience.
