Job Description


The Supplier Compliance Audit Manager conducts Nandos Supplier/Service Provider audits and provides technical support and assistance to enable compliance and improvement of food safety and quality operations of the South Africa and Africa Supply Chain partners. This role manages the development of the product evaluation system for South Africas finished products and supports new product development initiatives.

  • Knowledge of implementation and maintenance of Quality/Food Safety/ Animal Welfare management systems (Advanced)

Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupplier and Service Provider Audit Performance Management
  • Plan and execute own audit schedule
  • Finalise audit times and agendas with Supplier
  • Prepare for audits by -
o Ensuring all relevant information is reviewed i.e. complaints, withdrawals, concessions, specifications, previous audit reports and corrective actions plans, etc.
o Ensuring technical knowledge of food category
  • Conduct audits of identified Supplier as per own audit schedule or advised by Supply Chain -
o Verify compliance with Nandos audit criteria and legislation, including product specifications
o Provide relevant, practical, and cost-effective improvements and solutions
  • Compile audit reports
  • Prepare audit reports for the audit closing meetings and finalise post- closing meeting
  • Follow-up on Supplier corrective actions and effective close out of actions
  • For new Suppliers -
o Conduct new Supplier approval audits when required
o Ensure Supplier is completing the Supplier Questionnaire and submit all required documentation
o Assist Suppliers with operational process flow, product specifications and QC records for Nandos products
o Be present with the first production run at Suppliers if practically possible and as communicated by New Product Development.
  • Conduct unannounced and announced visits at Suppliers when required due to product or process non-conformances and provide solutions and improvements when required
  • Maintain relevant Nandos documentation relating to own audits
  • Monitor monthly Supplier complaints and provide technical assistance specifically relating to product quality
  • Prepare Supplier quality, food safety and animal welfare (if applicable) data to enable presentations to Supply Chain, Restaurant Support, and relevant Exco Members.
  • Assist in the review of Nandos audit criteria when legislation changes and / or when required due to changes in process, product, or other relevant changes
  • Review product specifications when required.
Compliance and Technical Assistant Restaurant Level
  • Review restaurant product quality control reports to determine quality trends and risks
  • Manage and lead Product Compliance Coordinator to ensure process is running smoothly
  • Conduct product quality control audits, including process parameters at Supplier facilities and Central Kitchen, when required, in the absence of the Product Compliance Coordinator
  • Share product quality reports with Restaurant Support, Supply Chain and Supplier
  • Follow-up on Supplier corrective action and effective close-out o
  • Assist with technical input when required for SOPs and other operational Casa issues
  • Conduct unannounced distribution and delivery audits at Casa level
Complaint Handling and Resolution
  • Be aware of complaints with specific regard to Alleged Food Poisoning (AFP), Foreign Object (FO) and Supplier complaints, in liaison with the Technical Specialist
  • Manage investigations, reports and closing out of AFP, FO, and Supplier complaints within the agreed timeframes, as and when required
  • Implement continuous improvement to existing practices and new ways of working, either at Supplier or Casa level
  • Review and resolve food safety and product quality complaints, as and when required
  • Escalate complaints if not resolved or escalation to Legal Department is required
In House Training - Supplier Product, Quality Evaluations
  • Plan in-house training schedule based on new team members
  • Facilitate practical training sessions to educate teams on product evaluations and reporting
  • Maintain excel spreadsheets to ensure alignment with product specifications
Reporting
  • Manage technical data and all relevant reports (where applicable) to allow trend analysis
  • Interpret and explain laboratory reports and specifications
  • Maintain Supplier performance documentation
