Job Overview To effectively manage the Companys supply chain and procurement function on a national basis with the objective of optimizing procurement spend to maximum value for the company. Development and implementation of all procurement policies and procedures to support overall supply chain. Visits major supply sources and personally conducts major contract negotiations. Generally responsible for ensuring that goods and services are procured at the specified quantity, quality, on the required date and at the lowest cost to the company. Duties and Responsibilities Procurement Responsible for all procurement activities within the supply chain function. Responsible for the development and implementation of sourcing strategies, both short and long term, for all product categories. Implement consolidated procurement processes and pricing across all branched including negotiation of national pricing parameters based on group spend. Creating integrated processes and focusing resources on continuous improvement. Establishing key performance metrics and benchmarks relating to procurement to enable measurement of actual performance against set goals. Functional responsibility for the national procurement function and negotiating favourable terms and contracts for the procurement of goods, services, and supplies. Developing a national procurement strategy for commodities, defining project scopes, and identifying saving opportunities. Negotiating and managing contracts and relationships with vendors. Implementing policies and metrics to ensure that savings goals are realised. Working with business to identify new product needs and vendors in order to meet business requirements. (Effective Supplier Sourcing + criteria used) Managing and implementing vendor assessment and performance framework. Supplier management, with KPI reporting (spend, on time delivery, quality performance, cost cutting initiatives) Effectively manage and develop the procurement resources at branch level. Effective management of TWC (trade working capital reduction) = JIT vrs Consignment Negotiating best payment terms without compromising on unit pricing together with effective volume rebates programmes Implement cyclical supplier audits with defined criteria Set approval limits for purchase requisitions / orders Knowledge of BBBEE procurement scorecard advantageous. Proficient understanding on the financial implications / impact of procurement on the overall business Logistics & Supply chain Establish freight budget and analyse the monthly spend vs actual Responsible for transportation analysis and savings/cost opportunities Work with ship site locations to improve operational and performance metrics Provide information, recommendations for transportation and logistics cost reduction opportunities of both Inbound + Outbound logistics Provide guidance or import/export Freight Classification, tariff code harmonization, Incoterms for the best interest of the company Manage air shipment determination and associated freight expense. Provide monthly executive report on logistic spend by region Understanding of MRP + DRP systems and raw material inventory management to control procurement spend. Understanding on different stock replenishment models Ensure all regulatory and compliance measures are adhered to. Track / monitor / report on Logistics spend (Inbound vrs Outbound) Implement systems and processes to ensure all PODs / trip sheets / briefing & debriefing records are safely stored and accessible Implement systems and processes to ensure suppliers are paid, supported by set mandatory documents / info sent to creditors Knowledge and understanding of import / export, sea freight & airfreight regulations
Minimum Requirements Relevant tertiary qualification (degree/diploma). Post graduate qualification in Business Administration/ Supply Chain Management is advantageous. Minimum 8 years of procurement experience in the manufacturing industry at a managerial level. Sound knowledge of technical purchasing parameters. Sound knowledge of international procurement principles and practices. Ability to think laterally, develop and implement strategies. Proven track record (results driven). High level of professionalism and integrity. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication, and leadership skills. Computer literacy - MS Office Packages (intermediate/advanced level). Pastel / Glasspro experience is advantageous
