Job Description


A global pharmaceutical company has a 6 month contract position for a Supply Chain Freight Controller.Job Purpose:
The position is primarily responsible to support Supply Chain activities required for freight management. This role tracks, plans & manages freight movements into the country, within the country or out of the country. It will entail co-ordination with the Commercial, Quality, Supply Team, Factory, Logistics Service Providers for the booking, clearing/ forwarding, transportation & related activities to facilitate freight movements.The position builds and maintains relationships with the relevant internal & external stakeholders such as SA Leadership Team, Commercial Operations, IMQ (In Market Quality), Global Supply Chain & Logistics, Finance, Enterprise Solutions, Demand Fulfilment, External Manufacturing, Logistics Service Providers.Key Responsibilities:
Supply Chain

  • Understand Supply Chain systems, process & 3PL activities required for South Africa/ Sub-Saharan Africa to manage shipments
  • Oversight of 3PL activities/ processes/ systems from inbound to outbound
  • Engage with various internal & external stakeholders like finance, commercial, supply, factory, service providers to gather relevant insights & information required for operations
  • Provide tracking, visibility & reporting of shipments in various stages of its life cycle
  • Reporting to Commercial and managing code change communications
  • Managing the Back orders to only reflect true OOS impact
Customs
  • Facilitate the Pre/customs clearance process for imports/ exports
  • Gather & provide the necessary documents required for the customs clearance of shipments to the relevant service providers
  • Create & update processes to ensure efficient ways of working
  • Plan & manage operations to ensure that no additional charges are incurred
Primary Transport
  • Liaise with transport service providers in relation to transportation to factory or warehouse
  • Ensure additional services are used for relevant shipments & document transactions for validation of supplier payment
  • Manage the Service provider invoice processing and follow up on Payment
  • Plan & manage operations to ensure that no additional charges are incurred
Logistics
  • Collaboration with IMQ (In-Market Quality) in monitoring supplier performance
  • Support with SAP system errors - ASNs; Code changes
Support
  • Demand Planning activates where required for operations
  • Supply Planning processes linked to the supply of product
  • Various projects that are part of the Supply Chain agenda
Budget
  • Maintains and control spend within allocated SCM budget for South Africa to balance cost & service in the most cost efficient manner
  • Validating & keeping a record of supplier work done for payments
  • Raising Purchase Requisition/Purchase orders on vendors for routine and non-routine Supply Chain services
Process, Quality & Compliance
  • Conducting all activities in a compliant manner
  • As a part of the Audit controls conduct where required TLRAs ( transportation lane risk assessment)
Qualifications:
  • Relevant diploma or degree (Supply Chain, Logistics or related)
  • SAP/ ERP/ Customs System
Experience:
  • Supply Chain, Imports & Logistics Management required
  • System functioning is advantageous
  • Proven relevant work experience in related business areas
  • 3 - 5 years of Supply Chain/ Imports/ Logistics experience (Pharma, FMCG, Manufacturing or similar)
  • Advanced understanding of Logistics / Import systems and process such as SAP & customs, basic understanding of processes and systems in adjacent areas.
  • Understand impact of own area's activities within SCM and impact on adjacent functional groups
  • Solid analytical skills for independent problem solving of more complex problems
  • Proactive, taking initiative and speaking up how own area operates
  • Communication fluency in English, both verbal and in writing, at all levels
  • Presentation skills for smaller groups predominantly in own area
  • Stakeholder management, teamwork and collaboration
  • Attention to details and accuracy, while keeping an eye on the bigger picture
  • Expert user of Excel and Power Point
