Job Description


:Job Purpose:As the SVL Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions for a standalone supply entity within the group. You will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements, manage monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role involves managing financial reporting, consolidations, reconciliations, and providing key insights to senior management. The role will work closely with the Accounting & Reporting Manager and other finance teams to deliver timely and accurate financial information.Reports to: SVL A&R ManagerRequirements:Principal Accountabilities:1. Financial Accounting and Reporting

  • Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the standalone supply entity.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the financial data, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and adjustments.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports, ensuring compliance with internal policies, accounting standards (e.g., IFRS), and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and validate financial statements, ensuring consistency and alignment with group accounting practices.
  • Assist in the preparation of management reports, including variance analysis and key financial performance indicators.
2. Compliance and Internal Controls
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of internal controls to safeguard the entity's financial information.
  • Prepare for and assist with both internal and external audits, ensuring the timely submission of audit requests and resolving any audit queries.
  • Ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory compliance for the standalone supply entity.
3. Financial Reconciliation and Analysis
  • Oversee the reconciliation of key accounts, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are accurately represented.
  • Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and report variances to senior management and the Accounting & Reporting Manager.
4. Stakeholder Coordination and Support
  • Work closely with other finance teams, including FP&A, tax, and treasury, to ensure accurate reporting and alignment with group standards.
  • Provide regular updates and insights to the Accounting & Reporting Manager on the entity's financial performance.
  • Support the Accounting & Reporting Manager in addressing ad-hoc financial reporting or analysis requests from senior leadership.
5. Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve the efficiency of the financial reporting cycle.
  • Propose and implement enhancements to accounting systems or reporting tools to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Support the adoption of best practices across the accounting function, ensuring consistency and efficiency in reporting and reconciliation activities.
6. Ad-hoc Support and Reporting
  • Provide ad-hoc accounting support as required by the Accounting & Reporting Manager and senior management.
  • Assist with the preparation of special reports, including regulatory filings or one-off financial analyses.
Key Challenges:
  • Ensuring accurate and timely reporting for a standalone supply entity while aligning with group-level reporting standards.
  • Managing competing priorities and tight reporting deadlines.
  • Identifying and resolving discrepancies across accounts and financial data.
  • Maintaining compliance with diverse accounting regulations and internal controls.
Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:Essential:
  • 5-7 years of experience in accounting or financial reporting, with at least 2 years in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS/GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience with managing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting cycles.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience in preparing financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Desirable:
  • Experience in managing financial accounting for a standalone entity within a group structure.
  • Experience with tax compliance and statutory reporting for a standalone entity.
