About the Role

We are seeking a

Systems Engineer Level 1

to join our IT Shared Services team in Cape Town. As part of a dynamic technical team, you'll play a pivotal role in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of our datacentre systems, SAP infrastructure, and critical line-of-business systems. You will act as an escalation point for complex issues and work to ensure the smooth operation of critical IT systems.

Reporting Structure

: ITSS Systems Engineering Team Lead

Key Responsibilities:

Install, configure, and maintain server hardware, storage systems, and virtualisation platforms Administer and maintain SAP ERP, CRM, MS SQL, and other business-critical systems to OS level Monitor and respond to system alerts, resolving issues proactively Implement system upgrades and changes in accordance with change management processes Mentor first-line support teams and provide ongoing training to IT personnel Collaborate on IT infrastructure projects, ensuring best practices are followed

Minimum Requirements:

Experience:

+ 1+ years in Microsoft systems administration (Windows Server, Active Directory, MS Exchange)
+ 1+ years in enterprise storage administration (e.g., TinTri, Dell, HP)
+ 1+ years in enterprise server administration (Dell, HP)
+ 1+ years in virtualisation (VMware)
+ 1+ years in SCCM, SCOM, SCSM, EMS administration

Qualifications:

+ Matric and a tertiary qualification in IT or Engineering

Essential Certifications:

- MTA (Microsoft Technology Associate)
- MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate)
- MS System Centre (SCCM, SCOM, SCSM, Orchestrator)

Desirable Certifications:

- VCP6.7/7.0 Foundations
- Dell Certified Associate (DCA) - PowerEdge/Storage

Skills & Competencies:

Strong understanding of LAN/WAN, IP telephony, and networking protocols Ability to manage complex system implementations and outages Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities Strong communication and relationship-building skills Ability to work under pressure, adapt to change, and take initiative
