Oliver Wyman is now looking for a Talent Manager (Staffing / Resource Management) to join
our Johannesburg Office!
Job Overview:
Engage actively and personally with local consultants in IMEA as well as know and understand their current strengths and development objectives, personal preferences and career goals.
Frequently interact with partners across Industries and Capabilities, ACG, CCG and Specialist TMs across the region to understand and address project staffing needs and balance them with consultant preferences and career goals.
Performance Management
Actively engage in career review process working closely with the performance management team, your peers and senior stakeholders - quality assurance of all project reviews and read as completed, and participate in review processes
Proactively seek informal feedback from Partners, Principals and Engagement Managers as projects are ending to ensure issues and development objectives are taken into account for next staffing assignments as appropriate; seek informal feedback every 2-3 months on longer projects
Provide career advice to consultants in IMEA and be keenly aware of consultants' preferences and performance based on frequent personal interactions. Working closely with the local CCG Partner and fellow TMs on ensuring consultants understand development needs and coach consultants on how best to meet firm expectations
Ensure skills & experiences are updated based on project reviews
Advise on, and locally manage, Oliver Wyman Talent Management Programs and business school sponsorships
Consultant Deployment
For assigned projects, collect all relevant details from Partners and/or ACG/CCG TMs on projects to be staffed
Coordinate and interact daily with CCG and ACG TMs team to collaboratively and creatively develop team options across IMEA if required to provide "best fit" solutions. Provide Partner and/or TM Lead with appropriate team options.
Manage Business Development, IC and other internal work needs
Manage consultants' leave request approvals and extensions
Track and manage consultant learning & development in IMEA
Proactively engage consultants on up-to-date preferences and discuss options when available / appropriate
Track how consultants are progressing against development objectives and line up intervention when appropriate, keeping the TM lead and CCG Partner/Practice Leads up to date on concerns and issues
Track all consultants in your pool within IMEA for career progression for skills development, project rotations and suggested training curriculum
Primary responsibility for consultant data integrity - keep track of consultant database including, availability, project experiences, areas of expertise, areas of interests, competency and skills development, utilization and overall career progression
Track morale of the Johannesburg office in IMEA
Responsible for monitoring local office morale, close coordination with office leads, CCG committee and TM Lead on talent strategies for consultants to thrive within OW
Acting as primary informal communication conduit for issues that may arise in the CCG
Coordinate and raise work life balance challenges - discuss with consultant and TM team and recommend action plan closely working together with the Wellbeing Lead
Experience Required:
Ideal candidates will have a bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of relevant professional experience in a fast-paced and dynamic client services business environment. Talent management or HR experience preferred
Experience balancing ever-changing work demands in a challenging environment with numerous stakeholders to satisfy
Proven ability to foster relationships at all levels of the organization
