Manage relationships with local and foreign tax authorities effectively.
Address complex tax queries and issues with adeptness.
Generate comprehensive reports with clear findings, conclusions, and recommendations for management, legal/compliance, and operational departments concerning new legislative and tax reporting obligations.
Represent the company at industry forums, contributing insights and perspectives to regulatory papers and industry bodies.
Review and enhance tax processes and controls to mitigate tax risks within the organization.
Supervise the identification and documentation of changes necessary for existing legislative requirements and annual regulatory tax reports to SARS across various system interfaces.
Provide ongoing guidance and training to stakeholders to ensure robust tax compliance awareness and proficiency.
Oversee the compilation and submission of SARS submission files.
Coordinate with Clients/Financial Advisors and Operations teams to address reporting queries and emerging tax matters.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor of Commerce degree with a Post Graduate Tax Qualification.
Relevant experience in the financial services sector, staying abreast of legislative changes. Technical expertise in tax advisory is highly valued.
Key Competencies and Skills:
Demonstrated initiative and success both academically and in leadership roles.
Pragmatic approach to systems and processes with a strong accountability mindset.
Familiarity with legislative requirements and tax laws in unit trust/LISP, long-term insurance, and retirement fund sectors. Understanding of local and international tax reporting standards such as FATCA/CRS, DWT, IWT, and IT3.
