Are you a Tax Specialist with financial services experience looking to grow your career in Cape Town? We might be looking for you!

Position Responsibilities:

• Stay updated on pertinent tax regulations and legislative shifts in the financial services sector.
• Lead tax advisory efforts for ex-SA operations.
• Manage relationships with local and foreign tax authorities effectively.
• Address complex tax queries and issues with adeptness.
• Generate comprehensive reports with clear findings, conclusions, and recommendations for management, legal/compliance, and operational departments concerning new legislative and tax reporting obligations.
• Represent the company at industry forums, contributing insights and perspectives to regulatory papers and industry bodies.
• Review and enhance tax processes and controls to mitigate tax risks within the organization.
• Supervise the identification and documentation of changes necessary for existing legislative requirements and annual regulatory tax reports to SARS across various system interfaces.
• Provide ongoing guidance and training to stakeholders to ensure robust tax compliance awareness and proficiency.
• Oversee the compilation and submission of SARS submission files.
• Coordinate with Clients/Financial Advisors and Operations teams to address reporting queries and emerging tax matters.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor of Commerce degree with a Post Graduate Tax Qualification.
• Relevant experience in the financial services sector, staying abreast of legislative changes. Technical expertise in tax advisory is highly valued.

Key Competencies and Skills:

• Demonstrated initiative and success both academically and in leadership roles.
• Pragmatic approach to systems and processes with a strong accountability mindset.
• Familiarity with legislative requirements and tax laws in unit trust/LISP, long-term insurance, and retirement fund sectors. Understanding of local and international tax reporting standards such as FATCA/CRS, DWT, IWT, and IT3.
