Job description

Responsible for managing a team of production personnel in a metal fabrication environment with a strong focus on boilermaking. The role involves overseeing daily production, ensuring quality standards, mentoring staff, and maintaining safety and efficiency.

Requirements

Red Seal Boilermaker with 10+ years of post-qualification experience.

Strong technical knowledge in metal fabrication and problem-solving. Proven leadership skills and experience managing teams. Ability to read drawings, inspect welds, and apply fabrication standards. Proficient in using systems like SysPro MOM and Microsoft Teams.

Report to

Production Floor Manager - Metal Fabrication

Duties & Responsibilities

Manage production output and meet performance targets (SQDCM KPIs). Lead, train, and motivate the fabrication team. Oversee job scheduling, material prep, and compliance with fabrication standards. Conduct quality inspections and ensure alignment with engineering drawings. Implement continuous improvement initiatives and safety practices. Maintain tools, equipment, and workplace organization.

Daily Activities

Update Production Boards: Ensure shop floorboards are updated daily. Morning Meetings: Lead daily action centre meetings to review performance KPIs and escalate key issues to the Production Floor Manager. Production Oversight: Monitor team progress on scheduled jobs to ensure timely delivery and productivity. Problem Solving: Identify and resolve production issues through innovative solutions. Quality Control: Inspect outputs for quality, apply corrective/preventive actions, and control weld distortion and sequences. Workplace Standards: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace following 5S principles and OH&S regulations. Station Inspections: Perform daily checks on fabrication stations for safety and operational readiness. Consumables Management: Ensure proper availability and use of fabrication consumables.
