In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.Guided by our purpose and our values, we enable both high performance and purposeful action as we aim to re-imagine mining to improve people's lives", delivering the metals and minerals that make modern life possible.As Technical Assistant you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Provide technical support to the Executive Head of Technical & Strategy in various aspects of strategic and operational reporting, analysis and integration.
  • Develop and manage the design and delivery of proposals for critical stakeholder engagements in line with the strategic objectives and critical tasks.
  • Coordinate and monitor the performance scorecard to ensure delivery of commitments.
  • Lead and support the implementation of strategic initiatives on site.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement in operational processes.
  • Support the wider Technical & Strategy team through data-driven, decision-making, and strategic messages to an array of audiences and assist the team in resolving challenges that may impact the delivery of commitments.
  • Generate, review, and integrate consolidated monthly and other LoW4 reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the Executive Head in coordinating and managing site projects.
  • Stay updated on mining regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Assist in ensuring the company adheres to all relevant technical and safety standards.
This role is in Technical & Strategy (T&S) at a Band 6 level reporting to Executive Head of Technical & Strategy.Qualifications
  • Matric
  • Postgraduate degreed qualification is required
  • Drivers License
Experience
  • Understanding of the Kumba Iron Ore and Anglo American business, covering commercial, operational, safety, people, technology, and innovation aspects for value creation.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Anglo American Operating model.
  • Experience in strategy implementation and business planning.
  • Future-focused with awareness of global trends relevant to Kumba Iron Ore and its markets.
  • Proficient in mathematical and statistical data gathering, measurement, organisation, and analysis skills.
  • Experience in identifying and implementing business improvement opportunities and projects in mining.
