Job Description


Job Profile:To provide technical input and support to management, contractors and staff regarding operational processes to ensure that the quality and standards are maintained whilst adhering to engineering, safety and regulatory requirements in accordance with L&SA (Licencing & Safety Analysis)Department and IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) standards.Key Performance Areas:

  • Monitor the implementation and maintenance of applicable SHEQ-INS requirements and compile operational reports as applicable to the plant to ensure compliance to Regulatory, Quality and Safety requirements.
  • Conduct Safety, Health, Environmental and Security Awareness Sessions and applicable training for all NWM personnel to ensure the effective implementation of Licensing & Safety Analysis Department (L&SA) and regulatory requirements and that the work is carried out accordingly.
  • Assist with training of Operators on specific amendments to the required and applicable work processes.
  • Conduct monthly inspections to ensure that operations comply with all aspects and requirements of the NIL (Nuclear Installation License), SAR (Safety Assessment Report), and OTS (Operational and Technical Specifications) for each of the NWM facilities.
  • Develop and review procurement documents (PUR) to ensure the implementation of effective procurement control, by:
  • Coordinate the classifying Systems, Structures & Components (SSC) into applicable levels by conducting Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA); and
  • Generate purchase requisition specifications, receiving and release checklists for relevant products and services based on the FMEA, including supply qualification requirements.
  • Co-ordinate, review and participate in new and/or modified processes as well as System Structure & Components (SSC) changes by generating, processing Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), conduct Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP), Engineering Change Proposals (ECP) and Failure Mode, FMEA and process descriptions studies as part of the upgrade projects.
  • Investigate and assist in resolving and managing the technical engineering problems reported as:
  • Non-conformances
  • Nuclear occurrences/events of category 1 to 2
  • Audit findings (internal or external) and compile a report on corrective actions taken to ensure close-out of the events.
  • Monitor the implementation of corrective actions from applicable compliance reports and requirements for each of NWM facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:Education: * Diploma in Operations Management/ Chemical/ Mechanical Engineering
  • Basics in Total Quality Management (NQF Level 5)
Experience: * Minimum six (6) years in Chemical / Nuclear Operations Environment.Closing date:16 April 2024.
