Job Description

• Management of the Technical department and all related activities, and adherence to all relevant legislation, regulations and Intergrated
• Management System (IMS) processes (Group and local).
• Manage Technical department staff, including daily, weekly, monthly, annual and ad hoc activities, employee development, appraisals and disciplinary actions.
• Manage all technical processes as per requirements of Group IMS.
• Participation in audits (IATF16949:2016, internal system audits, internal process/VDA6.3 audits).
• Manage and ensure adherence to KPI targets for technical processes.

Overall Maintenance Duties:

• Management of the Maintenance department and all related activities, and adherence to all relevant legislation, regulations and Intergrated Management System (IMS) processes (Group and local).
• Manage Maintenance department staff, including daily, weekly, monthly, annual and ad hoc activities, employee development, appraisals and disciplinary actions.
• Manage all maintenance processes as per requirements of Group IMS.
• Participation in audits (IATF16949:2016, internal system audits, internal process/VDA6.3 audits).
• Manage and ensure adherence to KPI targets for maintenance processes

Additional Specific Duties:

• Electrical :

o Single phase connections on portable electrical tools and equipment
o Three phase connections on motors, pumps and equipment
o Perform fault-finding on single and three phase circuits.
o Read and understand electrical diagrams.
o Perform periodic factory earth leakage testing.

• Hydraulic -

o Read and understand hydraulic diagrams.
o Perform fault-finding on hydraulic problems.
o Repair and/or replace hydraulic parts.

• Pneumatic:

o Read and understand pneumatic diagrams.
o Perform fault-finding on pneumatic problems.
o Repair and/or replace pneumatic parts.

• Electromechanical :

o Perform replacement and/or servicing of pumps.
o Perform fault-finding on heat pump errors.
o PLC control - surface treatment plant
o HMI control - surface treatment plant
o Programming pipe bender - CNC

• LPG :

o Understand burner faults and codes and perform problem solving.
o Perform exchange of burners.
o Perform ionisation and ignition probe changes.
o Perform fault finding on LPG vapouriser.

• Welding:

o Weld penetration: Ensure that weld penetration complies with acceptable level according to standard.
o Weld quality: Ensure bead size and length as well as visual inspection.
o Perform destructive testing.
o Perform non-destructive testing.
o Programme Kuka Krc 2 robot programming.
o Kuka Krc 2 welding touch up
o Programme Kuka Krc 4 robot programming.
o Kuka Krc 4 welding touch up

• Testing:

o Have and apply knowledge of SABS 1430.
o Have and apply knowledge of SABS 1465.
o Have and apply knowledge of Road Traffic Act.
o Perform in-house testing to SABS 1430 (non-certified site).
o Perform in-house testing to SABS 1564 (non-certified site).

• Research and development/project management :

o Customer specific requirements.
o Strength of materials.
o Perform costing.
o RFQs.
o Design.
o Prototyping.
o 2D CAD (AutoCAD).
o 3D CAD (AutoCAD).
o Special characteristics (ILR, ISC, IFF, Isnp).
o Torque.
o Initial sample inspections.
o Create flow charts.
o Create work instructions (WIS).
o Train staff to work instructions.
o change requests (serial production and project phase).
o Deviation requests.
o Time and motion studies including line balancing during project phase.
o APIS -
- FMEA software.
- DFMEA.
- PFMEA.
- Control plan.
- Have and apply knowledge of AIAG/VDA FMEA handbook.Maintenance:
o CMM software (C-Works) -
? Predictive maintenance.
? Preventative maintenance.
? Load new assets to CMM:
- FP (Fixed plant)
- LP (Loose Plant)
- CF (Checking Fixtures)
- SA (Jigs, Moulds, etc.)
? Maintain assets on CMM.
? Create work orders on CMM.
? Close work orders on CMM.
? Perform shutdown and startup maintenance.
? Arrange forklift load tests, servicing and inspections.
? Ensure mean time between failures is within set target.Ensure mean time to repair is within set target.
? Ensure mean time to failure is within set target.
? Manage and maintain critical spares list.Bills of Materials :
o Create, check, update and perform routing.

• Information and IT -

o Document control relating to maintenance, issue of work instructions, CMM work orders, etc.
o Perform fault finding on IT (PC/network) issues before escalating to IT service provider.
o Oversee server backup.
o Oversee PC maintenance.
o Oversee server maintenance.
o Obtain quotations for new IT equipment and/or repairs.Support:
o Create spare parts lists.
o Maintain spare parts lists.
o Create operating manuals.
o Create repair manuals.
o Maintain repair manuals.
o Participate in 8D problem-solving meetings.

• Energy:

o Perform tracking, identify trends and control usage to ensure within set targets for -
- Water
- LPG
- Diesel
- ElectricityRequired Expertise:

• Degree in
• Proficiency in CAD
• Proficiency in APIS
• Proficiency in CMM
• Experience in using ERP systems
• Understanding of the automotive industry
• Knowledge of SABS 1430, SABS 1564 and SABS 1080
• Knowledge of IATF16969:2016 and VDA6.3:2023

Required Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years' experience in mechanical engineering and maintenance.

Minimum of 5 years' experience in senior management.
Experience in seat manufacturing would be advantageous.
Minimum of 5 years' experience participating in IATF 16949:2016, VDA6.3:2023 and product audits.Required Attributes and Skills:
