Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled and experienced Technical Specialist to join our team on a 12-month contract, in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in Linux development, database engineering, and relevant IT certifications. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the financial services or banking industry.Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance systems within a Linux environment.
• Manage and support database engineering tasks, ensuring data integrity and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement technical solutions.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly.
• Provide support and guidance for technical processes, system upgrades, and maintenance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) / Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification (Must be Current)
• Strong proficiency in Linux development.
• Experience working with Cobol and database engineering.
• Knowledge of financial services or banking industry processes (preferred).

Required Skills:

• Proven experience in systems development and database engineering.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with Linux Administration and Engineering tools (CentOS, SUSE SP 12 & 15, and Ubuntu)
• CI/CD tools (GIT, Docker, Ansible, Kubernetes)
• Application Server (Apache Tomcat, Nginx, Apache HTTPD)
• Database Administration (MySQL RDBMS)

Preferred Experience:

• Experience in the banking or financial services sector.
