Our client in the Food and Beverage industry is currently looking for a Technical Supervisor, in Epping, Cape Town.Responsibilities:
Quality & Food safety:
Management Proactively manage quality and food safety systems throughout the factory, through adherence to the QFS system policies and procedures.
Participate in external 3rd party/ customer audits as required.
Implementing site internal audit schedule, conducting process/QAS audits and internal inspections in alignment to food safety system requirements.
Promote a culture of quality & food safety on the factory floor through awareness programs.
Participate in problem solving/root cause analysis regarding quality deviations in the production process.
Conduct site Microbiological verifications, Allergen verifications as per schedule, evaluate and trend results.
Use process audits, laboratory results and available resources to analyze and continuously develop and improve the facilitys quality control points.
Equipment calibrations and verifications are conducted as per schedule through accredited labs where relevant.
Develop and conduct annual HACCP validations.
Ensure compliance to the sampling and approval of incoming raw materials based on specification and COA compliance
Participate in recall/traceability exercises.
Participate in NPD factory trials, establishment of process flow, quality control points, product evaluation and final product specification as per equipment capabilities.
Hygiene Management:
Develop and implement and continually re-evaluate detailed hygiene procedures and schedules to ensure that the plant and environment are maintained to the businesss established standard.
Ensure the correct equipment, chemicals with chemical datasheets, chemical safety, and chemical dilutions are used within the cleaning processes.
Co-ordinate and facilitate daily meetings.
Manage the ordering and stock control of consumables and chemicals.
Evaluate supplier hygiene audit reports and ensure implementation of corrective actions.
Liaise with Pest Control Technicians and facilitate the implementation of corrective actions following pest control audits.
Liaise with waste management service providers for timeous and efficient waste management.
Responsible for the effective service delivery and/or support to the
Amaro Laundry Operation.
Administration and Reporting:
Manage the non-conformance reporting system and ensure timeous actioning of entries.
Monitor, filing and control all HQFS documentation against the required standards.
Trend, analyze and action root cause investigations for customer complaints, return to vendor products and internal rejections.
Trend, analyze root causes and implement preventative actions for microbiological results.
Participate in closing of all Hygiene, Quality and Food Safety external audit non-conformances.
Training and Development:
Ensure the training plan is completed as per schedule, and all identified stakeholders attend the relevant training, file training records.
Ensure clear working techniques for all activities are addressed within the training manual that engages and empowers the team to become multi skilled.
Budget:
Ensure quality and hygiene costs are managed and within budget.
Ensure cleaning chemicals and equipment are effectively managed and utilized within business requirements and budget.
Ensure that working time and rosters are structured to minimize overtime.
Performance Management:
Mentor and coach team members by conducting performance assessments in accordance with the businesss policies and procedures.
Ensure appropriate corrective disciplinary measures are applied consistently and fairly, where applicable.
Risk and Compliance:
Comply with the necessary Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations, allergen control, housekeeping, and pest control requirements.
Participate in personnel hygiene inspections.

Requirements:
Tertiary Degree/Diploma in Food Science, Microbiology or equivalent.
Supplementary advanced training in Food Safety systems.
Computer literate and proficient in MS Office.
A minimum of 3 - 5 years experience in food manufacturing.
