Job Description

Water Treatment company based in the Western Cape (approx. 30 km from Cape Town) is in search of a Tender Engineer in their Costings and Proposals Department. This role is crucial for securing new business and requires a detail-oriented individual with excellent technical understanding, strong communication skills, and a proven track record in tender preparation and submission. The role operates within a fabrication/ manufacturing and product supply orientated environment. A Tertiary qualification in Engineering and minimum 3 years previous water treatment experience required.The Tender Specialist will be responsible for managing the entire tender process, from initial identification of opportunities through to submission and follow-up. This involves a deep understanding of technical specifications and cost estimation, specifically within the context of water treatment projects. The ideal candidate will be able to interpret technical information and formulate the bill of quantities into a competitive tender bid.Requirements:

• Must have a Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Quantity Surveying diploma/related
• At least 3-4 years of relevant experience in the water treatment industry
• Strong computer literacy - Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Working proficiency in both English and Afrikaans
• Additional languages are a plus
• Experience in the manufacturing and fabrication environment is a plus.

Duties:

• Identify and evaluate potential tender opportunities within the water treatment sector.
• Review and interpret the tender document
• Ensuring compliance with all tender requirements and deadlines.
• Developing technical proposals and methodologies
• Formulation of costings and costing templates / BOQ based on technical information and plant

assessments. * Obtaining required quotations and specification to populate costings and BOQs

• Liaising with relevant internal departments to obtain required information to ensure the costings

accuracy and component specifications * Research equipment and products specifications and pricing for plant / system optimisation

• Contribute to the development and improvement of tender processes and templates
• Creating a costing and specification library
• Undertake any other ad-hoc duties as required
