A renowned Aviation Engineering company is looking for a "Test Engineer" to join their team on a full-time permanent basis in the Helderberg Area, Cape Town.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). Minimum of 3 years of experience in testing or a related mechanical field, preferably in the aerospace or aircraft seating industry. Experience in creating test plans, conducting static tests, and analysing test results. Familiarity with aerospace standards and regulations (e.g., FAR, EASA, etc.). Strong understanding of mechanical testing methods, tools, and equipment used in aerospace applications. Proficient in analysing test data and presenting results in a clear and actionable format. Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously. A strong focus on continuous process improvement to optimize testing procedures and departmental performance. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. A proactive and solution-driven attitude. Ability to lift and manage materials and equipment as required for testing and maintenance.

Key responsibilities

:


Test Planning and Execution: + Develop comprehensive test plans for structural testing of aircraft seats and interior

assemblies, ensuring they meet customer specifications, regulatory standards, and safety requirements.
+ Organize, coordinate, and execute static tests on seats and interior components, ensuring testing is thorough, accurate, and meets the required criteria.
+ Ensure all testing is completed in a rigorous manner, addressing both customer and regulatory authority requirements.
Test Schedule Management: + Develop and manage a clear and effective testing schedule, ensuring that deadlines are met.
+ Proactively address any potential scheduling conflicts or delays and take necessary actions to keep projects on track.
Material Expiration Testing Conduct testing required for relifing of materials that are approaching expiration, ensuring all testing is completed in accordance with safety and regulatory requirements. Ensure accurate documentation of test results for materials requiring relifing and provide clear reporting for relevant stakeholders. Maintenance of Testing Equipment: + Plan and coordinate maintenance schedules for testing equipment to ensure tools and machinery are functioning optimally and compliant with required standards.
+ Ensure all testing equipment is calibrated and maintained according to operational requirements.
Continuous Improvement: + Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing enhancements aimed at increasing the efficiency and reliability of testing processes.
+ Actively contribute to enhancing the department's capabilities and methodologies in line with the industry's best practices.
Compliance and Documentation: + Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests, including test methodologies, results, and any deviations from planned procedures.
+ Ensure strict compliance with all relevant industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements during testing.
Cross-Department Collaboration: + Collaborate closely with engineering, design, and quality teams to ensure that all test requirements are clearly defined and met.
+ Provide technical expertise and support to colleagues across the company on testing related matters.
