Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, installation, maintenance, and repair of solar PV systems and energy storage solutions.
  • Integrate inverters, generators, battery systems, and electrical wiring while ensuring compliance with NRS, SANS, and other regulations.
  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on solar and battery systems, diagnosing and resolving electrical faults.
  • Perform inspections and sign-off on solar and electrical installations, ensuring adherence to technical and safety standards.
  • Ensure quality control and compliance with SANS requirements across all installations.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and subcontractors to provide updates and resolve issues.
  • Keep up with advancements in solar PV technology and regulatory changes.
  • Install and configure data loggers, system communications, and metering equipment for real-time monitoring.
  • Develop control solutions for three-phase contactors and change-over circuits.
  • Manage projects independently with minimal supervision.
Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12 / Matric / Senior Certificate.
  • Qualified 3-phase Electrician with a Trade Test Certificate.
  • 3-Phase Wiremans License.
  • Solar PV qualification (recommended).
  • Minimum of 3 years post-trade experience in solar PV installations, including battery storage systems.
  • Valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle (preferred).
  • Fluency in English and Afrikaans (written and spoken).
  • Proven experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of solar plants (commercial and residential).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Key Skills and Competencies
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Physically fit and able to perform demanding tasks, including working at heights.
  • Technical proficiency in setting up and commissioning solar inverters, control systems, and switchgear.
  • Experience using electrical testing equipment (multi-meters, megohmmeters, insulation testers).
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical codes, SANS standards, and safety protocols.
Vehicle and Travel Allowance
  • Preference is for the electrician to use their own vehicle, for which they will receive:
  • A travel allowance
  • A petrol card
  • Additional compensation for business kilometres travelled
  • If a personal vehicle is not available, a company vehicle can be provided, but strictly for business use only.
