Job PurposeThe incumbent of this role will be responsible to perform a variety of passenger ticketing duties within the airport environment, aimed at providing an excellent service to Airline's Customers.The role is to ensure optimal generation of revenue accrued through sales of air tickets and safe guarding and securing of cash generated and the accurate accounting thereof.
Principal Accountabilities

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the departmental strategy and plan relevant to own work outputs
  • Provides recommendations to support the implementation of the departmental strategy and plan
  • Contributes to the budget management and containment of costs
  • Applies cost saving initiatives continuously
  • Provides recommendations on profitability
  • Ensure cash control, reconciliation and preparation of sales report
  • Ensure banking of fire arms handling fees and lounge access fees
  • Pay-outs and refunds
  • Adheres to Governance and Risk Management policies, processes and systems
  • Delivers on regular, irregular and timeous reporting of information to key stakeholders
  • Create new reservations by reading info back and advising fare rules to the passenger
  • Be able to insert SSR (special requests) field and issuing of staff and family tickets and Transnet concessions
  • Amend existing reservations both voyager and revenue tickets read of historical fare records as well as splitting of bookings, reading of historical fare record and pre seating
  • Ensure ticketing of new reservations and charging of service fees
  • Ensure re-routing of existing reservations due to schedule changes or cancelations of flights flexi-vouchers vouchers and meal vouchers, conversion of taxi vouchers into cash pay-outs (voluntary /involuntary)
  • Reissue tickets due to time or date changes and upgrade voyager and revenue tickets
  • Provide flight information, available fares and terms and conditions of air-travel as per the ticket contract as well as pre-seating of passengers on future dated flights
  • Quote and calculate fares for intended travel dates and times, to give passengers correct information with regards to visa requirements using TIMATIC
  • Do recalculations of fares on tickets if passengers change their reservations as well as currency conversion
  • Process excess baggage charges
  • Ensure enrolment of new membership, update and verify member details timeously
  • Be able to make new voyager reservations
  • Purchase voyager miles if member is short of miles for an award and add missing miles only on the Airline flights and Partner Airlines
  • Ensure Star Alliance partner addingxe2x80x99s and administration
  • Ensure charging of penalties and change fees
  • Perform credit card companion reservations
  • Perform voyager upgrades on existing reservations
  • Issue certificates for specified use e.g. Redemption awards for Health Spas, Car Hire and selected game lodges
  • Process voyager pin request transactions
  • Maintain Web support by re-instating of bookings (credit card details already inserted), authentication, and ticketing of bookings originating from the web
  • Ensure purchase of Voyager miles, waitlisted Voyager upgrades (Queues department not clearing queues and checking ticket time limits)
  • Administer and facilitate Voyager Mileage Expiry period at Ticket Sales
  • Train newly appointed staff and ones from other departments (on job training)
  • Issue hotel and transport/meal vouchers
Qualifications & Experience
  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • A 3-year diploma in a relevant field will be an advantage
  • At least 1 xe2x80x93 2 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in Airport Passenger Handling, Customer Management system, Dangerous Goods and Airside
  • Must have Basic Fares, Reservations and Ticketing courses
