Job Description

The purpose of the Trainee Operator is to provide first-line technical support and problem-solving. The Trainee Operator is a highly collaborative role, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs to deliver the right solutions, while acting as a trusted partner. The role assists with monitoring the health of the data center and escalating when necessary. Job Objectives

• Maintain frequent and timeous monitoring of operating systems.
• Support the team with Monitoring and executing system backups.
• Monitoring of store data interchange.
• Assist with recovery of data and disaster recovery.
• Support generator and UPS testing.
• Proactively work to support the team in the achievement of ensuring backup media is moved offsite.
• Ensure operation of network and system monitoring systems for stakeholders.
• Continuously monitoring of clients infrastructure.
• Timeously responding to exceptions according to SLA.
• Participate in System and Server Monitoring.
• Develop an awareness of a wide spectrum of IT technologies.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities when requested.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 - (essential).
• Certificate, Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, Database or a related field - (beneficial)

Experience

• Exposure to monitoring and operational tools such as SAP and Linux - (beneficial)

Knowledge and Skills

• Proficiency in MS Office 365 with basic Excel skills - (essential).
