Job Description


The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating the availability of vehicles, plant, parts, and drivers to meet specified delivery schedules, ensuring timely transport and logistics arrangements. They will also maintain accurate records related to vehicle costs, driver travel times, and other relevant information. Additionally, the candidate will manage the licensing of vehicles in compliance with the and ensure equipment certification in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act and the Labour Relations Act of South Africa.Key Competencies

Requirements
  • Matric/Grade 12
  • 5 years Experience in Construction Transportation and Logistics
  • Code 10/11/14 Drivers License and PDP
  • Own reliable transport to Head Office
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Vehicle and Equipment Coordination Oversee and coordinate the movement of vehicles, plant, and equipment to ensure optimal operational efficiency and adherence to project timelines.
  • Additional activities may include assessing logistical challenges and optimizing routes for fuel efficiency.
  • Scheduling Management Manage the scheduling of internal crane trucks and low-bed transportation, ensuring timely and efficient logistics for all construction activities. This includes monitoring usage patterns, adjusting schedules based on project demands, and communicating changes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Supplier Liaison and Material Delivery Liaise effectively with suppliers to process invoices, monitor deliveries, and ensure the timely arrival of materials and equipment at various construction sites.
  • Additional activities may involve evaluating supplier performance and resolving discrepancies in orders.
  • Record Keeping and Cost Management Maintain comprehensive records of vehicle operating costs, driver travel times, and service histories for internal vehicles and equipment to facilitate budgeting and financial accountability. This includes regularly analysing data to identify cost-saving opportunities and preparing reports for management review.
  • Vehicle Licensing Oversight Serve as the proxy for vehicle licensing processes, ensuring all necessary documentation and renewals are handled promptly and efficiently. Additional activities may include tracking renewal deadlines, coordinating inspections, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
  • Compliance with Road Traffic Regulations Ensure all equipment licensing is current and complies with the National Road Traffic Act of South Africa minimizing legal risks and ensuring roadworthiness. This includes conducting regular audits of licensing documentation and staying updated on changes in legislation.
  • Safety and Certification Compliance Verify that all equipment certifications are up to date in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act and the Labour Relations Act of South Africa and addressing any compliance issues that arise.
  • Abnormal Permit Applications Handle the submission and processing of internal applications for abnormal transport permits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements for oversized loads.
  • This includes coordinating with relevant authorities and ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed accurately and submitted on time.
  • Fine Management and Resolution Process and resolve traffic fines by verifying details, coordinating payments with the creditors clerk, and providing proof of payment to relevant authorities.
  • Address disputes and incorrect fines promptly and effectively.
