Job Description


GENERAL INFORMATION:Responsibility for the operational management and administration of the Port Elizabeth depot.1. CUSTOMER SERVICES, LABELLING AND SCHEDULING- Scheduling with customers before orders, names and tariffs.- Daily fleet planning in Port Elizabeth, George and Eastern Cape areas.- Coordination with the company-lead and subcontractors divisions regarding the handling of freight.- Reason for ETA''s shipment to the clients.- Assessment of high-risk freight on a daily basis.- Route inspections of PE / Eastern Cape areas.- The onboarding of new clients via client visits as outlined in the marketing plan.- Providing new clients with information on the companys services, freight types, background and history.- Visit and take care of existing clients by providing optimal service levels and maintaining excellent client relationships.- Inspection of clients distribution division and amenities.- Continuous telephone contact with new and existing clients.- Communication with clients in the event of a lost freight, hi-jacking of vehicles and accidents, as well as incidents which create consequences.- Regular follow-up visits to new and existing clients.- Facilitating the relationship between clients and the companys subcontractors.2. PERSONNEL & ADMINISTRATION- Dealing with disciplinary hearings, including long-haul drivers and helpers.- Monitor the depots bakkie mileage, serving and diesel consumption.- Coordination of workshop and depot personnel with Head Office.- Oversee staff overtime.- Daily monitoring and reporting of staff in/out clocking at the staff reception.- Debriefing of drivers with regards to diesel consumption, Proofs of Delivery and trip sheets.- Handling discipline.- Perform drivers alcohol and drug abuse tests and provide proof to Head Office. Maintain a report of which drivers have been tested.- Regularly test depot and work shop personnel alcohol and drugs.3. DEPOT FUNCTIONS- Management of the depot functions and personnel.- Ensure the productivity in the depot is kept at a high level.- Ensure the ablution facilities are cleaned daily and kept tidy.-If maintenance or repairs are required on the depot building, gather quotes for approval.- Arrange the fire protection measures serving and keep them up to date.- Informing Security of any problems and ensuring that functions are handled correctly.- Keep track of all the equipment (ropes, cords, spare wheels, etc.) and make sure that the equipment is correctly booked in and out.- Ensure RTMS registers are completed in full and correctly.- Make sure that all parked vehicles are parked in the yard:

  • Park in the correct place.
  • Ensure that the keys are in place by security department and locked away.
  • Ensure the vehicle are cleaned and kept in perfect condition.
4. GENERAL- Stock management of part storage and purchasing.- Service of equipment - eg. compressor / forklift / wap etc- Storage integrity and maintenance.- Daily inspection of local fleet and trailers.- Daily tyre inspections.- Regular after-hours visits to the depot to ensure everything is in order.- Responsibility for the incoming of pallets from Eastern Cape.To apply please email your CV to using the reference: OPSPE
