Apply today and make a significant impact in the petroleum logistics industry!Transport OperationsEnsure that the transport operations can meet the client demands and strategic stock level requirements of the company, whilst minimising cost and maximising returns for the company.Establish and ensure efficient control of all costs within the transport and distribution section.Ensure that the companys fleet of vehicle is optimized at all times and to minimize downtime of vehicles.Ensure that company vehicles are proactively maintained and serviced to reduce unplanned expenditure and minimise vehicle downtime.Design, implement and maintain scheduling systems that will ensure efficient and economic loading, transport and delivery of products.In consultation with the CEO, co-ordinate the negotiations of road transport contracts and also ensure enforcement of terms and conditions of such contracts.Develop and implement relevant policies, procedures, manuals, guidelines and codes that are relevant to the transport operations of the company.SafetyDeliver transport operations with zero incident and zero accident.Ensure that all company vehicles are in safe operating condition at all times without putting at risk employees, assets, products, customers and the public.Co-ordinate bi-annual safety inspection with accredited motor repair workshop and ensure only road tankers inspected and passed or certified as safe to operate, can load petroleum productsEnsure only Defensive driving trained contracted drivers with valid permits are allowed to driveEnsure that all contracted company drivers uphold safety values inculcated in them during defensive driving sessions by holding periodic meetings with drivers to discuss safety issues.Complete Transport Audit for all Road Transport Contractors and follow up for closure of all Remedial Action Plans.Commercial:Responsible to devise and implement the transport strategy for the company.Create transport costing models and options for the assessment of various scenarios, fleet combinations, loading points with the ultimate aim of maximising commercial value whilst respecting Safety and Security standards.Develop tools to track and report on all key transport-related metrics.Identify areas for performance optimisation and deliver improvements (cost & efficiency challenges) in co-operation with Supply, Sales and Marketing.Continuously monitor developments in the transport industry, road network and infrastructure developments in the country, vehicle tracking technology, theft prevention technology, relevant legislative environment, and aligning our transport strategy accordingly.Evaluate compliance to customer service standards and develops long-term strategies for improvements in customer service levels.Ensure that the transport department is fully staffed and to ensure that the company complies with all labour laws and regulations applicable for the sector in which the company operates.Ensure that all drivers are properly assessed as competent, skilled and morally sound to drive the companys vehicles.To ensure all drivers are properly onboarded, trained, screened and certified to drive the companys vehicles.Responsible for the performance management, training, career advancement, and motivation of all staff in the transport department.Enforce consequence management (such as disciplinary procedures) for staff who fail to comply with their work instructions, with company policies and standards, or who demonstrate negligent, insubordinate or criminal checks.Knowledge / Experience and EducationBachelors Degree or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain or similarMinimum of 5 years of working experience in Transport or Fleet Management.Experience in the Petroleum Industry or in the transport of hazardous products will be advantageous.Experienced with Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality in relation to the transport of petroleum or hazardous goods.Strategic and commercial mindset, with strong analysis, scenario planning and costing skills.Ability to lead, manage and deliver through large teams.Experience working with, implementing and enforcing standard operating procedures, processes, standards and policies.Strong experience in managing multi-million-rand tenders, strong negotiation and deal making skills.Experience in contract management and working knowledge of commercial contract law and strong in compliance and internal controls.Job Type: Full-timeSalary: R50,000.00 - R70,000.00 per monthAbility to commute/relocate:Lanseria, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)Education:Diploma (Required)Experience:Transportation or Fleet management: 5 years (Required)Petroleum or Hazardous product industry: 5 years (Preferred)Application Deadline: 2023/12/17
