Treasury Accounting Officer - Cape TownFull job descriptionWhat will you do?Santam is looking for a passionate, proactive, and energetic individual for a position as Treasury Accounting Officer. The position exists in Corporate Services: Group Treasury, based in Tygervalley, Bellville.The main responsibility for this position will entail executing and accounting for Treasury transactions which includes, but not limited to the following:Perform accounting for Treasury operational bank accounts, intercompany accounts/ funding transactionsPrepare month end Treasury reporting packs and reconciliation KPI dashboardsMaintenance of Treasury risk register to track risk parameter breachesSupport on Treasury process improvement and automation initiativesWhat will make you successful in this role? This position requires working closely with the various business partners.Reconcile Treasury General Ledger accounts in JD Edwards accounting system and ability to work with large volumes of dataPrepare monthly summary of the ageing and resolution of unreconciled items to ensure accurate financial reporting.Provide support with innovation & automation initiatives/projects.Support internal and external stakeholder engagement with business partnersQualification and Experience Minimum of B Com (Acc) / B Com Finance / B Tech Degree with Financial Accounting major (non-negotiable)Completed SAICA / SAIPA articles (advantageous)Experience in preparing journals/ accounting allocations using e.g., JD Edwards / SAP / Oracle system experience (non-negotiable)Minimum 5 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in a large corporate Financial Accounting / Treasury department preparing month end reports and G.L. reconciliationsMinimum of 3-5 yearsxe2x80x99 experience capturing payments via electronic bankingWorking knowledge of IFRS Accounting principles related to accounting for banking and short-term investmentsSkills High numerical skills and attention to detail.Team player who is proactive with an agile mindset.Financial data analysis experience.Sound relationship building skills, at different levels of the organisation.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Strong co-ordination, organisational and planning skills.Results orientated, pro-active and deadline driven.Capacity to operate under extreme pressure.Strong quality and client service orientation.Ability to drive decisions and work independently.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.Adaptable to Change/Flexible.Core CompetenciesBeing resilient - Contributing independentlyCollaborates - Contributing independentlyCultivates innovation - Contributing independentlyCustomer focus - Contributing independentlyDrives results - Contributing independentlyAbout The CompanySantam is the leading short-term insurer in South Africa.
