What will you do?Santam is looking for a passionate, proactive, and energetic individual for a position as Treasury Accounting Officer. The position exists in Corporate Services: Group Treasury, based in Tygervalley, Bellville.The main responsibility for this position will entail executing and accounting for Treasury transactions which includes, but not limited to the following:

  • Perform accounting for Treasury operational bank accounts, intercompany accounts/ funding transactions
  • Prepare month end Treasury reporting packs and reconciliation KPI dashboards
  • Maintenance of Treasury risk register to track risk parameter breaches
  • Support on Treasury process improvement and automation initiatives
What will make you successful in this role?
  • This position requires working closely with the various business partners.
  • Reconcile Treasury General Ledger accounts in JD Edwards accounting system and ability to work with large volumes of data
  • Prepare monthly summary of the ageing and resolution of unreconciled items to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Provide support with innovation & automation initiatives/projects.
  • Support internal and external stakeholder engagement with business partners
Qualification and Experience
  • Minimum of B Com (Acc) / B Com Finance / B Tech Degree with Financial Accounting major (non-negotiable)
  • Completed SAICA / SAIPA articles (advantageous)
  • Experience in preparing journals/ accounting allocations using e.g., JD Edwards / SAP / Oracle system experience (non-negotiable)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a large corporate Financial Accounting / Treasury department preparing month end reports and G.L. reconciliations
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience capturing payments via electronic banking
  • Working knowledge of IFRS Accounting principles related to accounting for banking and short-term investments
