Job Description

Our client in the Freight Management and Logistics industry is currently looking for a Truck Driver, in Johannesburg, Gauteng.Responsibilities:

• Fully responsible for the movement of empty containers to and from our facility.
• Responsible for the safe and accurate return of the containers to the empty depots.
• Ensuring paperwork is always accurate and details are correct.
• PODxe2x80x99s to always be provided for every movement and kept safe.
• Checking of containers when loading to ensure they are clear of damages.
• Ensuring your time is not idle at empty depots and keeping your controllers informed and updated at all times of any challenges or delays you can see or are currently experiencing at depots xe2x80x93 either loading or off-loading.
• Working effectively with the Port Truck Team to ensure the operation continues and to not inhibit or cause delays to the operation.
• Keeping in constant open and clear communication with your controllers.
• Being efficient to report immediately upon your arrival at the facility.
• Working well with the 7ton forklift operator to get your vehicle loaded for the next trip soonest and / or getting your empties off-loaded efficiently.
• Ability to work shifts aligned to the operational requirements (6 to 6 shifts)
• Ability to stand in for other staff and work additional hours where needed.
• Ability to change hours and be available for sudden changes in shift structures when needed due to absenteeism amongst team members.
• Conducting daily checks on your vehicle and ensuring repairs and servicing is kept updated and aligned with requirements.
• Reporting to Supervisor if any issues arise with the vehicle and recording them on your check list.
• Maintaining cleanliness of your truck at all times.
• Teamwork is crucial.

• Matric.
• Excellent command of the English language.
• Current and valid Code 14 (EC) Drivers Licence.
• Minimum 2 yearsxe2x80x99 experience driving.
• Extensive knowledge of the Empty Container Depots in and around the greater Durban area.
• Understanding of and experience working in the container import and export industry.
• Own transport to and from work.

• Up to R12 925.56 per month.
