Job Description
Experience:
- Experience in a manual turning role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Operate manual lathes to machine components to specified dimensions and tolerances.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Select and set appropriate tools, speeds, and feeds for various materials.
- Measure and inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gauges).
- Adjust machine settings and cutting tools to achieve required finishes and tolerances.
- Perform routine maintenance and checks on machines to ensure proper functionality.
- Work with different materials, including steel, aluminum, brass, and plastics.
- Ensure that machined parts meet quality standards and production deadlines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to optimize machining processes.
- Proficiency in operating manual lathes.
- Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting speeds, and feeds.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience with precision measuring tools and quality control techniques.
- Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Attention to detail with the ability to work to tight tolerances.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a workshop environment.
