The Unit Manager [UM] will be responsible for coordinating improved quality nursing care by ensuring compliance to professional and ethical practice aligned with the company strategy in the private healthcare environment.
The incumbent will also be responsible for monitoring and ensuring that nursing care and service delivery is implemented and practiced within a multi-disciplinary quality assurance team. In accordance, the incumbent will be accountable for coordinating capacity building, mentoring and training, financial and stock management including cost effective quality patient care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(s)
1. A relevant nursing qualification (Diploma in General Nursing/ B Cur Degree)
2. A post basic qualification in the area of specialty [Theatre technique & management administration], or evidence of competent experience in that field, together with contemporary skills and knowledge of that specialty
3. Current registration with South African Nursing Council as registered nurse
4. Post basic qualification in management/nursing administration
5. An intermediate level of Computer proficiency
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
1. Minimum of 3 years' experience in clinical leadership and management in the private healthcare environment
2. Minimum of 3 years' managerial experience in a private theatre complex.
3. Thorough knowledge of general / specialized nursing theory and practice.
4. Extensive knowledge of modern nursing care principles and practices in the highly specialised field.
5. Previous Unit Manager experience in the private healthcare sector, is essential
6. Experience or qualification in ophthalmic nursing will be an advantage
7. Basic understanding of Labour legislation; Financial management and Computer proficiency
