Utilities Manager
Job Description
Our client, a prominent real estate conglomerate with over five decades of industry experience, is seeking a Utilities Manager. Recently reorganized into one of three entities within a broader group, they specialize in residential properties and lightweight commercial buildings. While their primary focus is Johannesburg CBD, their operations have expanded across major provinces.The Utilities Manager will oversee a team of analysts and administrators, reporting directly to the Financial Director. This office-based role involves providing strategic feedback to various internal stakeholders and ensuring the efficiency of the company's utilities management.Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Identify and resolve utility and metering issues.
- Compile and manage utility budgets.
- Oversee service provider performance and charges.
- Stay informed about relevant utility rate changes.
- Evaluate utility budget utilization (cost vs. actual).
- Analyze trends and proactively recommend solutions.
- Prepare and present comprehensive reports.
- Assess monthly data and pinpoint problem areas.
- Develop and maintain a database structure for quality tracking.
- Resolve data discrepancies.
- Represent the company in utility investigations and disputes.
- 5-7 years of experience as a Utilities Manager, Analyst, or Controller in real estate.
- Relevant tertiary degree with strong financial acumen.
- Proven ability to manage large teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
