Job Description

Duties:

• Diagnose faults in manual and automatic transmission systems, including clutch, torque converter, gear sets, and related components.
• Dismantle, inspect, and rebuild gearboxes, ensuring worn or damaged parts are replaced or refurbished to spec.
• Perform repairs and overhauls on transmissions using technical manuals, diagnostic tools, and precision measuring instruments.
• Test and calibrate gearboxes after repair to ensure optimal performance and compliance with manufacturer standards.
• Work on transaxles, differentials, transfer cases, and other drivetrain components as needed.
• Interpret diagnostic reports and collaborate with service advisors on repair plans.
• Maintain workshop cleanliness and tool condition, ensuring all jobs are completed safely and efficient

Requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Red Seal Qualification Motor Mechanic
• Proven experience specialising in gearbox//transmission repair
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and efficiently under pressure
• Familiarity with diagnostic equipment and manufacturer repair procedures
• Valid Code 8 (EB) drivers license.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
• Experience at a Dealership Service Workshop or a similar mechanical service environment is highly advantageous.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Medically fit with no criminal record.
• Must reside on the East Rand or within close proximity to the dealership.
• Having own transport is advantageous.
• A genuine passion for the technical aspects of vehicles
