Job Description

Job Overview



Manage and overseeing the B-BBEE verification process, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and guidelines as set out by the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTIC) and the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS). This role involves managing verification analysts, conducting assessments, reviewing verification reports, and ensuring accurate, fair, and transparent evaluation of clients' BEE status.

Key Responsibilities:



1. Verification Process Management



Oversee the end-to-end BEE verification process, ensuring adherence to SANAS and DTIC requirements.

Conduct and review BEE audits, ensuring compliance with the BEE Codes of Good Practice and sector charters.

Ensure all verification engagements follow the correct methodology and maintain high levels of accuracy.

Perform on-site and off-site verifications of client BEE claims, including ownership, management control, skills development, enterprise and supplier development, and socio-economic development.

Review and approve verification reports before submission to clients.2. Team Leadership & Development

Manage and mentor a team of verification analysts and support staff, providing guidance and training as needed.

Assign verification tasks to team members and ensure timely completion of projects.

Foster a culture of integrity, accuracy, and professionalism within the verification team.

Monitor team performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

3. Compliance & Quality Assurance

Ensure all verification processes align with SANAS R47-03 requirements and BEE legislation.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of BEE legislation, including sector charters and regulatory updates.

Conduct internal quality assurance checks to uphold high verification standards.

Address and resolve any client disputes or appeals in line with regulatory guidelines.

4. Client Engagement & Relationship Management

Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the verification process.

Educate clients on BEE requirements and provide guidance on verification procedures.

Address client concerns, ensuring transparency and ethical conduct.

Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including industry regulators, SANAS, and the DTIC.

5. Reporting & Administration

Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping for all verifications conducted.

Prepare detailed verification reports and ensure timely submission to clients.

Submit compliance reports to SANAS and other regulatory bodies as required.

Assist in policy development and process improvement initiatives.

6. Regulatory & Legislative Knowledge

Deep understanding of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act, 2003, and subsequent amendments.

Familiarity with related legislation such as the Companies Act, Employment Equity Act, and Preferential Procurement Regulations.

7. Project Management Skills

Ability to manage multiple verification engagements simultaneously while maintaining quality and accuracy.

Strong organizational and time-management skills to ensure deadlines are met.

8. IT Proficiency

Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data analysis and reporting.

Experience using BEE verification software and client management systems.

9. Risk & Compliance Awareness

Ability to identify risks in verification processes and implement mitigation strategies.

Commitment to upholding SANAS guidelines and preventing conflicts of interest.

Ability to handle client queries, appeals, and disputes professionally and in compliance with verification standards.

12.Networking & Stakeholder Engagement

Experience in representing the company in industry forums and discussions.

Key Requirements:


Education & Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.

BEE-related training or certification is highly advantageous.

Experience



Minimum of 5 years' experience in BEE verification, auditing, or compliance-related roles.

At least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory position within a BEE verification agency.

Strong knowledge of the BEE Codes of Good Practice and sector-specific charters.

Technical Skills & Knowledge



In-depth understanding of BEE verification methodologies and scorecard calculations.

Familiarity with SANAS accreditation requirements (R47-03).

Proficiency in data analysis, financial statements, and ownership structures.

Strong report-writing skills and attention to detail.

Strong leadership and team management abilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

High ethical standards and ability to work with confidential information.

Additional Requirements:



Must be willing to travel for on-site verifications.

Valid driver's license and own transport preferred.
