About CorpsAfrica:Founded in 2011, CorpsAfrica provides the opportunity for Africans to serve as volunteers in their own countries, along the lines of the Peace Corps model. We train college-educated young Africans and send them to live for up to one year in rural, high-poverty communities to facilitate small-scale, high-impact projects that are identified by local people. CorpsAfrica aims to promote a culture of public service in Africa by giving participants the opportunity to apply their education, skills, and energy toward helping their fellow citizens overcome extreme poverty.CorpsAfrica has steadily expanded operations from Morocco to Senegal, Malawi, Rwanda, Ghana, Kenya, Ethiopia, The Gambia, and Uganda over the last decade. Having successfully proven the power and effectiveness of the model, CorpsAfrica has begun to receive significant funding from large donors. As we reach a point of significant inflection leading to future expansion, we seek to add motivated, capable, and highly effective staff to our team.Overview of the Position:The Volunteer Liaison for CorpsAfrica manages a select number of Volunteers, supporting them through their CorpsAfrica service- both emotionally and through their projects.CLASSIFICATION: Full-time

REPORTS TO: Country DirectorSpecific Responsibilities:

  • Discuss and produce schedules for volunteers they coordinate.
  • Serve as coaches for Volunteers in Human Centered Design so they can innovate and create a design thinking culture at their sites.
  • Use Human Centered Design as part of all activities and consciously create a culture of design thinking in the office and the field.
  • Maintain records and archives, reports.
  • Create and provide weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports on Volunteer activity.
  • Assist with events, public and media relations, and other marketing opportunities.
  • Visit projects in the field with routine travel to all Volunteer sites.
  • Coordinate CorpsAfrica Sector Specific Initiatives.
  • Other responsibilities as requested by the Director.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelors degree and at least three years of professional experience with one year of field experience.
  • Extremely detail-oriented results-oriented, and organized
  • A passion and commitment to youth leadership, participatory community development, impact evaluation, transparency, and accountability
  • Excellent speaking, writing, presentation, and computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and all Google Docs)
  • Impeccable integrity, judgment, and discretion along with a professional demeanor and personal style that elicits trust
  • A demonstrable understanding of South African laws and the government administrations
  • Fluency in English and at least three other South African languages
