Our client in the Gems and Jewellery industry is currently looking for a Warehouse Assistant Manager, in Midrand.Responsibilities:
Receiving and Inspection:
Receive incoming stock and materials.
Check and inspect goods received against purchase orders or invoices.
Report any discrepancies or damage to the Warehouse Manager.
Storage and Inventory Management:
Store goods in designated areas.
Maintain accurate records of inventory and report low stock levels.
Organize the warehouse space efficiently and safely.
Order Fulfilment:
Pick and pack orders according to the order specifications.
Prepare goods for dispatch and ensure they are properly labelled and secured.
Coordinate with logistics for timely delivery of products.
Warehouse Maintenance:
Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and safe.
Perform routine checks on equipment and report any issues.
Follow all health and safety regulations.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
Update inventory records and maintain accurate documentation for all transactions.
Assist in stocktakes and audits as required.
Prepare reports on warehouse operations as directed by the Warehouse Manager.
Customer Interaction:
Occasionally assist with customer queries and product pickups.
Provide excellent customer service when dealing with clients.
Warehouse Responsibilities:
Logistics:
Keep an eye on all orders dispatched and follow up on any delays and inform customers of delays to their parcels.
Ensure all parcels are sent with correct courier to minimise warehouse cost.
Keep updated reports on couriers for example excessive charges/pilverage/misroutes/theft/unnecessary delays.
Spot check PODs ensuring parcels have been delivered to correct customer.
Monthly accounts - to be checked and handed over to accounts for processing.
Ensure parcels corresponds to trip sheet manifests.
Collection customers - phone customers once parcels have been packed for them to collect.
System/Stock Holdings:
Ensure all addresses are correct with correct street address/receiver name/receiver telephone number. Correspond with admin for correct address to be uploaded onto system.
Oversee stock take capturing is accurate.
Ensure optimum stock levels are kept of all stock. All stock running low to be placed onto an order sheet, verified with Director and be sent though to States.
Ensure warehouse has enough non-stock items. Any stock running low to be added onto order sheet to
Make bookings for deliveries for chain stores via phone/email
Amin:
Double check all adjustments are done correctly to ensure elimination of errors on stock take.
Stock takes documents preparation for stock take.
Govern all leaves and ensure at all times appropriate number of staff present at work to ensure work doesnt fall behind.
File daily trip sheets.
Ensure all data relating to card printing is accurate at all times and update when necessary.
Warehouse:
Ensure all shelfs are stocked, if not instruct warehouse personal to fill up shelves.
Receive all customers/deliveries/collections and divert to necessary persons. Customers for admin, deliveries to inform for whom ever parcel is for and collections to ensure all documents are for collections (tipsheets)
Ensure proper check list is done for closing premises daily.
Ensure hardrive is switched out on daily basis.
Oversee stock take procedures, investigating stock discrepancies through recounts/co-parisons versus previous stock counts/possible transfer issues.
Ensure warehouse is stocked with packaging items from suppliers - Boxes/tape/stickers etc.
Ensure on a weekly basis coastal reps stock are sent to them and ensure communication beforehand with each coastal that they are being sent all necessary stock.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Relevant vocational training or certification in logistics or warehouse operations is a plus.
3 Years experience in a warehouse or logistics environment is preferred.
Experience with warehouse management systems and inventory software.
Skills:
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Basic computer skills for record-keeping and data entry.
Physical ability to handle heavy items and operate warehouse equipment safely.
Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.
Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
Licenses: Valid forklift operators license is advantageous but not required.
Reliable and punctual.
Proactive and self-motivated.
Capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrates a strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
The role requires standing, lifting, and carrying heavy items.
Work in a busy warehouse environment with potential exposure to noise and varying temperatures.
May involve some weekend or evening shifts as required by operational needs.
