Our Client in the Bellville South area, is seeking the skills of Warehouse Operations Supervisor's, to start immediately.Applicants needs to forward their Cv's, with qualification documentation. Please do note, that these positions are open to South African Citizens.Purpose of the job:The candidate selected for this role will supervise the daily activities for all warehouse departments and will lead a team of 5 Warehouse Supervisors / Team leaders as they execute organizational and operational objectives. The incumbent will be responsible for looking after a sophisticated distribution centre (+/- 26 000m2) and approximately 80 staff.Task & responsibilities

  • Managing various departments within the central distribution facility
  • Provide leadership and direction to a team of warehouse supervisors/team leaders as they carry out daily warehouse functions
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies
  • Liaise between employees and senior management to ensure that organizational goals and objectives are effectively communicated and met.
  • Ensure that operational resources, including equipment and human talent are properly allocated in relation to daily warehousing needs.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with all company safety and operational standards.
  • Ensure customer and company requirements are met, both in quality and production volume.
  • Coordinate the distribution process to ensure that the customer orders are effectively satisfied
  • Oversee all administrative processes within the warehouse, i.e. operational reports, etc.
  • Ensuring both output and productivity targets are met
  • Maintaining a high level of inventory accuracy
  • Managing 3rd party service providers and ensuring that their SLA
  • Managing supplier relationships and supplier compliance
  • Ensuring that products are warehoused in accordance with company policy
  • Maintaining a happy, positive and productive workforce
  • Planning and optimizing space in the warehouse
  • Maintain awareness of daily production and ensure that daily targets are set and achieved
  • Assist employees to attain individual and departmental productivity targets; initiate and innovate plans to motivate workers to achieve their goals
  • Ensure housekeeping activities are performed daily to maintain a neat, clean and organized department
  • Assist Operations Manager with planning, organizing and directing warehouse activities to ensure successful operations.
  • Assist with training and managing employee performance and play an active role in talent management
  • Assist with controlling expenses, reducing staff turnover and managing overtime working hours worked.
  • Ensure warehouse equipment including MHE and vehicles are well maintained and serviced regularly
  • Oversee all safety initiatives including but not limited to: conducting bi-weekly Safety Committee meetings, safety audits, building and equipment inspections, incident reports, quarterly fire drills, and safety training
  • Other job duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Tertiary education: B Degree in Logistics/ Supply Chain Management or related would be an advantage
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of warehouse experience in a distribution centre environment in FMCG/RETAIL industry
  • Extensive supply chain process expertise including some manufacturing, inbound receiving, storage, retrieval (full pallets, case pick, layer pick), shipping, transportation, etc.
  • MS Office
  • MS Project would be an advantage
  • Excellent inter-personal and leadership skills
  • High energy levels
  • Good balance of hands on management with strategic skills
  • In touch and abreast of the market trends and industry best practice
  • Ability to deal with employees at all levels
  • Must display presence/ character

  • Must have a strong logistics background with a reasonably high degree of general business/ financial/ people management knowledge
  • Knowledge of RF-enabled warehouse technologies.
Knowledge, skills & personal attributes
  • Computer Literacy (Intermediate level).
  • At least 3-5 years experience in a managerial position, together with same years experience and relevant qualifications in warehouse operations.
  • Knowledge and application of the Bookmaster system will be advantageous
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
