Our client, a prestigious Wine Estate based outside Stellenbosch, is looking to appoint a Winemaker who will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the production of their wine and spirits from a variety of grapes.The successful individual will actively be involved in the growth, harvest, crushing, fermentations, clarification, aging, blending, bottling and marketing of grapes. Relying on the elements to produce good crops, the person should understand weather, soil and science in order to produce wine of high quality.The Winemaker will report directly to the Managing of the business.Minimum requirements:

• Relevant tertiary education in

. A BSc Agric in Viticulture and Oenology or a BSc Agriculture Oenology. * Minimum of 3 yearsxe2x80x99 experience as a professional winemaker

• Management training and experience
• Forklift license
• Must be able to travel

• Competent at all wine cellar tasks
• Ability to process wine to meet specifications
• Have a thorough knowledge of the total winemaking process
• Have sound knowledge of viticulture
• Have a thorough knowledge of all company products
• Able to adjust the winemaking process so variables are catered for
• Must have the ability to taste wine to consistently match a reference sample
• Must have the ability to identify faults in wine and the knowledge and experience to rectify them
• Be computer literate
• Have a good mechanical aptitude
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively to ensure that desired results are achieved
• Have effective management skills so that objectives are achieved; and
• Have effective leadership skills so that subordinate staff can function effectively as a team.

Working hours:Working hours largely depend on the season.
