My client is seeking to employ a Workshop Foreman to join their company based in Isando.
The Workshop Foreman is responsible for leading the technical team in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining both diesel and gas internal combustion engines. The role includes overseeing the disassembly and reassembly of equipment, ensuring high standards of refurbishment, and maintaining rigorous safety and administrative protocols. The Foreman will work closely with the Service Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the workshop and adherence to Company policies and industry standards. The Foreman is also responsible for conducting in-house training to ensure all mechanics are proficient, up to standard, and capable of performing their tasks efficiently and effectively
Diagnose and repair diesel and gas engines, including components such as transmissions, drive axles, differentials, hydraulic systems, brake systems, steering systems, and mast lifting systems. Disassemble equipment to facilitate major component removal for repairs. Perform routine preventive maintenance and equipment testing as assigned. Conduct in depth electrical diagnostics and intense repairs, such as complete harness rebuild
Refurbish customer-owned units and used stock to high standards, following manufacturer procedures and complying with SANS and DMR lift truck safety regulations. Ensure all work is performed in line with company policy and standard procedures.
Lead the workshop team by maintaining high standards and supporting the Service Manager in staff management. Foster a positive and productive work environment. Support the Service Manager in securing a healthy and safe working environment in the workshop.Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices. Be available for after-hours calls for loading and off-loading sales related customer units as needed. Open and close the workshop on a daily basis.
Conduct debriefing sessions with field technicians upon their return from site to review job completion. Verify that all booked-out parts were used as per job requirements and cross-check with job cards. Ensure that all used/damaged parts are returned for proper disposal or warranty claims. Identify discrepancies in parts usage and escalate any issues to the Service Manager. Maintain accurate records of returned parts to support inventory control and cost management
Minimum Requirements:
Grade 12
Fork Lift Mechanic Trade Test Certificate
Product related mechanical experience and proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel and gas engines (material handling industry)
