Job Description


Job Title: The Turbo Service Workshop Foreman (TSWF)Primarily responsible to ensure the smooth maintenance of workflow methods in the workshop through capacity planning, improving staff efficiency and productivity, maintaining safety and healthy environment, developing staff competencies and setting maintenance programs to improve customer satisfaction and reduce costIn addition he/she will also be responsible for the smooth running of the workshop in general by:

  • Assuming responsibility for the supervision and monitoring of all workshop staff and employees
  • Arranging necessary repairs and maintenance on all equipment and related facilities in the workshop
  • Providing technical assistance for the workshop staff
Planning
  • Planning of all works activities and resource planning schedule and issue reports on works planning
  • Prepare inspection findings reports on the repair jobs for sales
  • Availability after hours and execute hands on approach
  • Work in the workshop as required for a project or any other job including breakdowns and emergencies repairs
  • Manage and control of sub contractors engaged in the service workshop, also the sub suppliers to ensure quality product is delivered on time
  • Measure and identify opportunities to reduce expenses;
  • Achieve budget targets in terms of revenue and profit;
  • Develop action plans to meet the goals set by the business plan
Management and Leadership
  • Technical support and on the job training to all personnel in the service works and give support to sales and projects
  • Leadership and management of the service works and building up/development of the workshop personnel
  • Provide continuous feedback to the employee regarding work performance
  • Facilitate and co-ordinate training and development initiatives. Integrate into development plan and discuss career planning
  • Identify and discuss poor performance with the employee and conduct mentoring processes to prevent poor performance.
  • Supervising and motivating a team of workers
  • Provide continuous leadership to employees
  • Complete & maintain work packages and QC documentation
  • General maintenance of equipment and machinery
Communications
  • Liaise with site field service personnel as required and give support to the site field service work
  • Customer liaison and internal with sales and projects
  • Set up and chair regular workshop meetings/attend internal and external meetings
  • Communicate well with the team in order to build a good relation with
  • customers and exceed their expectations
  • Attending production & project meetings and interaction with colleagues
Fitting Work
  • To work on Steam & Gas Turbines, strip & inspect turbines and turbine parts
  • De & Re-blade turbine rotors and casings.
  • General inspection on various turbine parts and fitting work on variety of machinery
  • Assemble turbines and turbine components
  • Carry out receiving inspection on parts and components
Monitoring
  • Monitor and control workshop expenses
  • Measure the performance of workshop and technicians
  • Ensure the workshop has adequate staff
  • Plan, administer and control the needed requirements of equipment and supplies in coordination with the Turbo Service Manager
  • Ensure maximum utilization of technicians and monitor their efficiency.
  • Conduct regular checks on all tools & equipments to ensure that all are maintained properly as per manufacturers specification
Health and Safety
  • Create an environment that will promote passion, creativity, innovation and ownership
  • Prepare preventive maintenance and calibration plans for all required workshop equipments and tools as per ISO requirements
  • Ensure that fire fighting and first aid teams are well trained and prepared to meet any emergency.
  • Ensure all staff adheres to the workshop safety policy to build a safe & hazardous free workplace.
  • Responsible for training of new employees as well training in safety procedures
Experience & Skills:At least 5 years related experienceSpecific Knowledge:
  • Organizational and maintenance skills necessary to enhance overall operations
  • Leadership skills
  • Working in a similar industry on turbo machinery and parts
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment essential - micrometer , vernier ,
Qualifications:
  • Matric
  • Qualified Artisan ( Fitter & Turner , Millwright ) Olifantsfontein Trade Certificate
