Workshop Logistics Coordinator - Construction Industry - Salary Depending on ExperiencePosition OverviewAs a Logistics Coordinator in our civil engineering contracting firm's workshop, you'll be at the core of our operations. Your role involves providing crucial administrative support, managing drivers, coordinating their movements, and overseeing truck operations. You'll streamline processes, ensure compliance, and optimise schedules to maintain efficiency and safety.Experience, Qualifications, Skills and Competencies

  • Relevant tertiary qualification, preferably in logistics
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience working in a logistics
  • Experience in Construction will be highly advantageous
  • Computer literate - Word, Excel
  • Must live in the Northern Suburbs, Cape Town
  • Attention to detail
  • Organisational skills
  • Good time management
  • Customer service & communication skills
  • Adaptability, team player, excellent interpersonal skills, people management.
Duties and responsibilities includeFleet and Driver management
  • organise truck and driver documentation and daily schedules.
  • supervise and manage a team of drivers, addressing concerns and coordinating movements.
  • handle driver timesheets, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • act as a point of contact for driver inquiries and issues.
  • manage attendance records, daily hours, and truck kilometres.
  • allocate jobs for sites and track product collection to/from various suppliers
  • reconcile fuel slips for trucks and conduct monthly audits.
  • assist with staff administration including employment contracts and medicals.
Scheduling and coordination
  • collaborate with the workshop foreman to schedule maintenance tasks for trucks.
  • resolve scheduling conflicts promptly and efficiently.
Logistics management
  • coordinate truck logistics, order collections, and deliveries.
  • ensure timely delivery of orders and supplies to sites.
Costing system updates
  • update costing system with accurate data on income, repairs, and costs.
  • ensure cost data is current and reliable.
Customer service
  • act as a point of contact for truck drivers and internal stakeholders.
  • address customer inquiries and concerns professionally and promptly.
  • provide updates on truck availability and status.
Safety and compliance
  • ensure drivers adhere to safety procedures and protocols.
  • maintain compliance with truck regulations and standards.
Documentation and reporting
  • maintain accurate records of income and costs.
  • generate reports on income, fuel usage, and driver wages.
  • prepare and update reports on truck costs and fuel usage.
