Job Description
A leading player in South Africas passenger transport and fleet management sector is seeking a hands-on and results-driven Workshop Manager to oversee their technical operations in Pretoria. This role requires a qualified Diesel Mechanic or equivalent artisan with solid experience managing maintenance of large fleets.Requirements:
- Matric (Grade 12) + N4 in Mechanical or Engineering Studies
- Qualified Diesel Mechanic (Other artisan qualifications considered)
- 58 years hands-on experience in heavy vehicle maintenance (buses/trucks)
- 2+ years in workshop supervision/management
- Technical Skills: Fleet maintenance software proficiency; Budget control & preventative maintenance planning; OHS Act compliance & asset management
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership & team development; Supplier/OEM liaison experience; Problem-solving under pressure
- Oversee workshop operations
- Ensure OHS Act compliance and safe working practices
- Manage technical budgets, reporting, and cost control
- Lead preventative maintenance programs
- Supervise and upskill workshop teams
- Liaise with OEMs, suppliers, and parts procurement
- Maintain asset registers and fleet documentation
