Key Performance Areas
The selected candidate will be responsible for managing the daily operations and driving the strategic direction of the campus Writing Centre, while leading and supporting a team of Writing Centre Consultants.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management
Oversee the daily operations of the Writing Centre.
Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance the centre's services.
Supervise and mentor writing tutors and staff.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment for students and staff.
Program Development and Co-Ordination
Design and co-ordinate writing workshops, seminars, and intervention programs.
Develop resources and materials to support student writing.
Collaborate with Head of Faculties to integrate writing support into their student support structures.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services.
Consultation Support
Assist in the recruitment process for the Writing Centre consultants (students and graduates).
Manage the training, development and support of all Writing Centre consultants.
Address group based student needs through tailored intervention programs when required.
Administrative Duties
Manage the Writing Centre's budget and resources.
Manage the Writing Centre booking system and co-ordinate student referrals to allocated Writing Centre consultants.
Maintain records of student usage and program outcomes.
Prepare reports and presentations for university administration when required.
Ensure compliance with university policies and procedures for the Writing Centre.
Manage the claims approvals for Writing Centre Consultants.
Outreach and Collaboration
Build partnerships with other campus departments.
Represent the Writing Centre at University events and meetings.
Engage in professional development and stay updated on best practices in writing support.
Advocate for the importance of writing skills within the university community.
Technology and Innovation:
Integrate technology into writing support (eg online consultations and digital resources).
Explore and implement innovative approaches to writing instruction.
Maintain the Writing Centre's presence within the student body.

Minimum Education Requirements:
A minimum of an Honours qualification in a relevant field.
