About the Role: Our client seeks a dedicated nurse to serve as a crucial liaisons between various entities such as Youth Courts, Prisons, Youth Justice Departments, Mental Health Services, Police, Government, and Community Agencies. You will provide invaluable consultation on mental health and addiction issues, as well as the management of associated problems within these agencies. Additionally, you will utilise your clinical expertise to conduct quality rapid assessments of Pacific youth who are identified as having or potentially having mental health and addiction problems.
About Our Team: Our client's team operates within the broader framework of Te Korowai-Whxc4x81riki, particularly within the Central Regional Forensic Mental Health Service. This service plays a pivotal role at the intersection of Mental Health Services and the Justice System, functioning across diverse settings including prisons, courts, communities, and inpatient facilities. They offer comprehensive assessment and rehabilitation services for those charged with criminal offenses and grappling with mental health challenges.
About You: You can demonstrate a strong commitment to professional, legal, and ethical responsibilities, with a keen focus on cultural safety. This includes the ability to apply knowledge and judgment effectively, taking accountability for one's actions and decisions. The ideal candidate will foster an environment that prioritises patient safety, independence, quality of life, and overall health. Essential skills include adept interpersonal and therapeutic communication with clients and colleagues, as well as proficient client assessment and care management abilities, informed by nursing knowledge and evidence-based research. You must have a broad knowledge of Pacific cultures and models of care, and be coversant with at least one or more Pacific languages
Essential qualifications: You must hold a current New Zealand Nursing Registration, a current New Zealand annual practicing certificate. A minimum of three years working in a mental health setting A current full drivers licence Post graduate qualification is an advantage
